Parking

Parking is available at no cost during the summer months (May 15 – August 15).  Please observe the blue handicapped parking areas, the yellow and red “No Parking” zones, and other reserved spaces

Telephone

South Dakota School of Mines provides conference guests with local phone service in their guest or residence hall rooms. Guests will need to bring their own phone to take advantage of this service.  Local calls are covered in the room rate. Long-distance service is available with the purchase of pre-paid calling card available at the University Bookstore.

A limited number of phones are available for rent for $1 per day.

Mail and Messages

Stamps may be purchased at the main desk of Surbeck Center.  Packages can be shipped from the university mail room located in the Physical Plant building.  Standard mail can be dropped in the mail slot near the mailboxes in Surbeck Center.  Mail to conference participants should be addressed as follows:

Your Name
Conference Name
SDSM&T, Surbeck Center
501 E. St. Joseph Street
Rapid City, SD 57701

A message board can be set up in Surbeck Center for conference groups on campus. Conference participants can post and receive messages on this board. It is important to remind conference guests that they should notify family, friends, and business contacts that conference information cannot be given out over the phone and that messages will be taken and posted on the board. Please make arrangements ahead of time for your group's message area.

Refrigerators

Groups and individual conference participants may rent small refrigerators for $1.00 – 3.50 per day depending on the style/size of the refrigerator during their conference stay. The number of required units must be indicated on your application. Please note that we have a limited number of refrigerators available.  Fans are also available for rental for $1.00 per day or $5.00 per week for those groups staying in buildings that are not air conditioned.

Computer Services

With advance notice, guests can request a short-term temporary computer account through Summer Conferencing Services. A computer account provides a guest access to university computers and printers as well as e-mail and the World Wide Web. If your conference is educational in purpose and your attendees will require the use of a computer account often, you may arrange for one account for all your members. Additionally, most classrooms and meeting rooms contain an array of computer and audio-visual equipment. If your conference or special event would like to incorporate technology-enhanced capabilities, please request as early as possible.

Copy Center

Your conference can arrange to have copying, including color copying, and facsimile services available through the Surbeck Center. You and those you designate will be given photocopying privileges. Contact Summer Conferencing Services for costs.
